Yesterday the County's Personnel Dept. realised how much they are going to miss me when I leave. I have been working in the Personnel Dept. as an intern since May. I have gained some valuable experience and I have been a great help to them because they are seriously under staffed at the moment. They are currently in the process of hiring a new Personnel Analyst, but they will still be stretched thin.

Anyways, one of my duties as an intern is to be in charge of the continuous recruitments. I review the applications and deal with the departments who want to look at the list of eligible applications. Well yesterday, while I was off doing some filing, one of the departments called Mark, a new Personnel Analyst, and asked to look at an application. He wasn't sure what to do when it came to the continuous recuitments, so he left a note on my desk saying, "Kim, come see me re: lab assistant position. Mark" When I got back, I went to see him and as I walked into his office, he said, "Kim! I'm so glad you're still here! I know sh*t about the continuous recruitments." Since I am going to be in Hawaii next week and my last day is the 19th of August, I had to advise him on how to deal with these recruitments.
It's just funny because he's the one who should be advising me, not the other way around. To be fair, though, he did start the same time I did. He's still learning as well.

I am so proud of myself! Yesterday I ran my first ever 10K. I wasn't sure how well I would do, so I treated it like the 4 mile race I ran in June...I am doing this for me, so I am going to do the best I can. Well, I managed to run the whole thing! It really wasn't that much of a struggle. Of course, the last mile was a bit challenging, but the rest of it was pretty easy. I think it helped that is was so foggy I couldn't see most of the time.

The race was called "Rock to Pier", which meant the entire race was on the beach. It was quite enjoyable actually. Hearing the waves as your running. Very soothing.

My time was 55:47, which is pretty good for being a novice. Out of 900 people, I came in 308....10th in my age division.

My knees hurt the majority of the day yesterday, but they are feeling much better this morning. Thank god. I was really hoping I didn't hurt them because I want to take my Sunday morning spin class.

I meant to post about the race yesterday, but I ended up taking a two hour nap instead.

I can't believe what I am seeing. I think this bombing hits home more because I've been to all those places. I hope all my London friends are ok. Especially fugitivemotel and thefairmelissa! *hugs*

I just ordered myself a new mobile and rate plan! Unfortunately I won't get it until I get down to CA because they wouldn't ship it to my parent's house. Since I will be living down in CA for the summer, I needed to get a CA number and they didn't like that I was trying to ship to Washington.
I ended up getting a monthly plan (which means contract!) because it ends up being just as expensive as getting pay as you go. The reason why it is the same is because I can't get a free phone with pay as you go and all the phone they offer are at least $100. I am definitely looking forward to having a mobile again. I am going crazy being without one!

Look who just got accepted to the MBA programme in Human Resources at Liverpool! Of Course the news of my acceptance comes on the day that I was planning on sending in my acceptance of my acceptance at the University of Birmingham. Now I'm wondering if I should because the programme I was accepted for at Birmingham is European Political Economy and I really, really want to study HR. I wish I could call home right now and get some advice from my dad, but it is the middle of the night and he wouldn't appreciate it too much.

Gott! Mein deutsch ist sehr einfach!

I have a place to live in Manchester!

I am so happy that I was able to set up a place to live before I get there. I really didn't want to have to go a quick search once I got there. I'm already probably going to have to do a quick job search, the last thing I wanted to do was look for both.

I will be living in North Manchester. I have seen the pictures of the flat I will be living in and it looks nice.

October needs to be here now!

It is 6:46am and I am wide awake. I should not be wide awake. I should be sleeping.

I think one of the reasons I cannot sleep anymore is because my back and shoulders are pretty sunburned. I do not normally sunburn very easily but I was dumb enough to forget to put sunscreen on before Morgan and I went to Sea World. Anyone who spends 4 hours in the direct sun, even those of us who normally just tan, will burn. Taking a shower this morning will be interesting.

The only good thing about my burn is that it will soon turn into a nice tan. :)

I am also awake because I woke up when Adam left for work and was unable to fall back asleep because I started thinking. Damn me and my overactive mind! I started thinking about Manchester and what it will be like once I get over there. October seriously cannot get here soon enough.
