Yesterday the County's Personnel Dept. realised how much they are going to miss me when I leave. I have been working in the Personnel Dept. as an intern since May. I have gained some valuable experience and I have been a great help to them because they are seriously under staffed at the moment. They are currently in the process of hiring a new Personnel Analyst, but they will still be stretched thin.
Anyways, one of my duties as an intern is to be in charge of the continuous recruitments. I review the applications and deal with the departments who want to look at the list of eligible applications. Well yesterday, while I was off doing some filing, one of the departments called Mark, a new Personnel Analyst, and asked to look at an application. He wasn't sure what to do when it came to the continuous recuitments, so he left a note on my desk saying, "Kim, come see me re: lab assistant position. Mark" When I got back, I went to see him and as I walked into his office, he said, "Kim! I'm so glad you're still here! I know sh*t about the continuous recruitments." Since I am going to be in Hawaii next week and my last day is the 19th of August, I had to advise him on how to deal with these recruitments.
It's just funny because he's the one who should be advising me, not the other way around. To be fair, though, he did start the same time I did. He's still learning as well.
